Study Visit

KKL REPORT

Kuliah Kerja Lapangan (KKL) student of English Diploma Program is a routine activity  in every year  that is followed by V semester students. In this year it was hold on November 28 until December 1, 2017 and the palce was Jakarta.

It is kind of visiting activity  to certain places which connect to the students’ major, so that they can know and learn how the real work situation is. The students also allow to ask many things about working to the expert one. This event always held in every year and at the different places depend on where the students want to go. This year, we decided to go to Jakarta after many considerations. We went to Kementerian Paiwisata (Ministy Of Tourism and Culture), CNN Indonesia, BBC Indonesia, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), and the entertainment was Ini Talk Show NetTV.

The travel was started on Tuesday evening by bus. We went arround at 06.00 pm same with the schedule because we want to arrive early. The students were very happy and we took a picture before we went  to Jakarta. Moreover, we got some money from campus. Not really campus actually, money that we paid to campus then back to us again. You know what I mean. We went there with our two lecturers, they are Mr.Rosyid Dodiyanto and Mr.Kristianto Setiawan as the escort. We enjoyed the travel with listening songs that was singing by one of students. It was very fun and sometime we joined singing too.

^Before going, took a picture with the bus :)

At 08.00 pm, we stoped at restaurant Sakalibel in Bumiayu to have dinner and take a rest to get the fresh air. After that, we continued the travel. Since we just finished the dinner plus the air in the bus was quite cold, some students got masuk angin (feeling not well, nausea) and got vomit. Fotunately there was medic box served from the tour leader. Then we continued karaoke until almost midnight. The rest, we fell asleep until  morning, we finally arrived in Istiqlal Mosque, Jakarta. We arrived there very early at 02.30 am so that we should wait the gate to open at 04.00 am or  the dawn time (subuh time). After it was opened, we cleaned ourselves, pray subuh, and take some selfie there until sun rises. It was so beautiful morning, many people selling clothes, accessories and other stuffs to the visitors outside the mosque. We also had breakfast still in Istiqlal area before we continued to the next destination.

^Me at Istiqlal Mosque, after pray Subuh. My friends and I took pictures in the morning. That time, the air was so fresh and many bird were flying and singing. It was full of peace and blessings.

^Inside of Istiqlal Mosque. Beautiful and peace. Everyone prays to Allah, even I saw a bird inside it and I guess it was praying to Allah too. MashaAllah

The first visiting was Sapta Pesona Building, Ministy Of Tourism and Culture, Indonesia. It is a  big and high building because it has more than 20 floors. We arrived there at 09.00 in the morning. The first thing we do was taking pictures in front of the building.  After that, we met one of our senior from English Diploma Program who works at Sekretaris Negara (State Secretariat), Mr.Edi Purnomo. He explained about his work,  motivated the us as students to keep spirit and work hard to be a better person. Then we continued to came into the bulding, but we should wait for few minut because the head of the division was on a meeting. After finish, we went to the 17th floor to attend the meeting with Head of Deputy of Institutional Development Sector (Deputi Bidang Pengembangan Kelembagaan). The meeting discussed about Indonesian tourism potential and about aconomic sector. Some of the students asked some questions. That was very good and precious chance for us as students who came there. It felt like we were on a real meeting of work so that we could know the situation like. I felt like I was one of a Ministry who joined meeting with important people within my country not as a student anymore hehe....

The next destination was Cable News Network (CNN) Indonesia. It is a television station and news site belonging to Trans Media in collaboration with Turner International. The building was far from the bus parking so we should take a walk in cworded way of Jakarta, also there was raining too which made us a little bit panic. Finally we arrived there with some wet clothes, but we were enjoyed it. There, we explored the building accompanied by the crew. Since our entourage were so many, so we separated into two groups. We went to the control room and saw how the program is setting. Then we went into the “on air” room where the “live” news was happened, so we saw the news ancor directly in the studio and how the cameramen shoot and other. More that that, we also got a chance to come into the controlling room and monitor room. There are some monitors and big display screen which we took a picture in front of them like a news ancor. Then the last, as usuall we took a picture together as a memento with the crew.

The third destination after CNN, was Ini Talk Show from Net TV. We went there at 05.00 pm. The way to that place was very crowded because rush hour, plus raining. We were quite tired but in the same time we also happy because we were going to one of studios of “Televisi Masa Kini” or Net Tv, watching a program that we usually atch on TV. After arrived, we had dinner near and take some rest, doing prayer before the talk show begun. Before at 08.00 pm, the audience should make a line to enter the room.We were queue one by one checked by the security, then enter the studio. Before the shooting begun, we were given instruction about what should we do during the “live” shoot. One of the guests was comedian and actress Vega Darmayanti. We were so excited to meet Sule and Andre, the host and co-host of “Ini Talk Show” directly eventhough we could not take a picture together. Some of our friends also appear on screen television. After that, we continued our way to Hotel Pop, Kelapa Gading to spent our night. The hotel was good and comfortable to get sleep after tiring day.

^ Beautiful view from Pop Hotel, room 818, at 8th floor. The weather that time was foggy and the air quite fresh that I barely feel  like this in Jakarta.

The last destination are British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) Indonesia and Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII). We separated into two groups, because the quota of visitors in BBC maximum 15 people. BBC was specialization for major Translation, but some of major Tourism and Journalism also joined. TMII specialization for “Tourism” but some “Journalism” also joined. In BBC we were introduced to one of foreigner who originally from Pakistan but work in main office of  BBC in London. We had disscussion for a while with him and Mr.Ging Ginanjar, Desk Editor of BBC Indonesia. Then, we saw the work room, such as the studio that is used to “live” record with BBC International and saw how Mr.Ginanjar do when he work. That was such a precious chance for us to come to BBC Indonesia office at Deutche Bank Building 15th floor as it is nor ordinary corporation, nut International corporation. This is our advantages for us to develop ourselves and meet new people, learn new things  or maybe we can do cooperation next time.

^Before leave, capture again. Mr. Ging Ginanjar and  Mr.X from Pakistan (I don’t know his name actually) and us. (Lecture, Tour Leader, Students).

I don’t take any picture at TMII because I was come late and felt so tired. In TMII, Tourism students were also welcomed well. They could do tour of mini Indonesia there. I was one of the student from  major Translation so I did not join the visiting in TMII, but after from BBC Indonesia I went there to had lunch and spent the rest time before we leaving Jakarta back to Purwokerto. We left around at 04.00 pm from TMII. On our way home we were felt tired but our happines and grateful are more than that so we enjoyed the way with talking. We also stop at rest area some times, then we fell asleep on the bus until we arrived in Purwokerto at 02.00 am.

I am so grateful even until now that I could go to those places. Some of  them are important  places that  not all people can come freely I think. This KKL activities is very good for student to know the real work that they will facing after they graduate. The student not only know about the real situation, but they also can be interraction with the expert one. Hopefully, after that they will know what they want to be and to do in the future and strive for success.
